Hi everyone,
Welcome to "Shore Things" with John Piassek,
covering the ins and outs of the 2015 racing season at Monmouth Park Racetrack
in Oceanport, New Jersey. It'll be the 69th season of racing at Monmouth Park,
with 57 fun-filled days of racing every weekend from May 9 to September 27. The
highlight of the racing season will be the $1,000,000 William Hill Haskell
Invitational, held August 2, featuring the best three-year-old horses in the
country.
As you could’ve guessed by the title, my name’s John
Piassek, a 19-year-old aspiring track announcer, a rising sophomore student at
Loyola University Maryland, and a lifelong fan of thoroughbred horse racing
from Cranford, New Jersey. Last year, I got a chance to announce my first live
race at Monmouth, which you can view on youtube, here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-cosPVBTVro
This year, I’m happy to
say I’ll be serving as a fan ambassador at Monmouth, so you’ll see me sometimes
walking around and answering fan’s questions about racing.
This is the place to find many things: my selections, my
reviews and opinions on the races run, and ways that Monmouth Park can improve
their great racing product. One thing is for “shore”: it’s guaranteed to be a
great season down at the Jersey shore.
